Notification: Since Tohoku Region Pacific Coast Earthquake, measures such as energy saving have been planned to cope with the power crunch anticipated mainly in the Tokyo metropolitan area this summer. In many public facilities including transportation facilities, the use of lighting has been reduced and elevators have been stopped to maintain power grid infrastructures. Under these circumstances, many cases of the interference to the mobility of the physically-challenged and those with weak sight have been reported. In this symposium, how the public organizations can realize barrier-free support while reducing energy consumption for the expected future situation where tight energy supply continues will be discussed. |
