This is the January 2013 issue of T-Engine Forum’s monthly e-mail magazine
◆New Year’s greeting
T-Engine Forum marked its 10th anniversary in 2012. It was established in 2002 to promote the standardization of embedded systems in the network era. I celebrated the anniversary and pledge further development for the future with all the forum members at the TRONSHOW held in December.
The source code of T2 + T2EX, which is the latest version of the free and open OS provided by T-Engine Forum, has been published. This is the first open full-fledged practical middleware for RTOS with 130,000 lines of code, and we have received a lot of positive feedback already. I believe that this software will contribute to manufacturing in the world as well as manufacturing in Japan.
Thank you for your continuing support and best wishes to all of you for the new year.
◆T2EX has been released to the public.
The specification and source code of “T-Kernel 2.0 Extension (T2EX)” has been released to the public by T-Engine Forum since December 12, 2012. “T-Kernel 2.0 Extension (T2EX)” is the middleware to add enhanced functions to T-Kernel 2.0. Maintaining the lightweight advantage of T-Kernel 2.0, T2EX offers major functions necessary for developing the recent embedded systems devices such as file management and network communication. The detailed commentary on T2EX appears as the feature article ”Encyclopedia of T-Kernel” of TRONWARE VOL. 138, currently on sale. This magazine sells for 1,260 yen including tax, and is published by Personal Media Corporation. You can obtain the specification and source code of T2EX from the T-Engine Forum website. For details, please see the following websites.
◆TRONSHOW2013 and TEPS2013 were held successfully.
"TRONSHOW2013" was held at Tokyo Midtown in Roppongi, Tokyo from Wednesday, December 12 to Friday, December 14, 2012. In this symposium, the latest research results of embedded technologies focusing on T-Kernel and ITRON specification OS and ubiquitous ID technologies were presented. The symposium introduced various proposals toward the realization of ubiquitous computing environments, and many achievements of TRON Project such as embedded microprocessors and T2EX with many speakers and panelists from home and abroad. Also, “TEPS2013,” a symposium on the approach to support challenged people by utilizing computers was held at Tokyo Midtown Conference on Saturday, December 15. The scenes from these symposiums and material for the sessions are available on the official TRONSHOW website.
