Embedded computer with a touch panel, "Teapanel"

The "Teapanel" is a computer for an embedded systems with a "VR5701" CPU by NEC Electronics Corp. The "PMC T-Kernel", a real-time OS whose features such as virtual memory, have been significantly enhanced and the "PMC T-Kernel Extension" are used for the OS. The touch panel display is attached to the main unit and the middleware "PMC T-Shell" enables a GUI operation environment that is simple and easy-to- understand. In addition, its fan-less and desk-less design has realized a quiet machine with high vibration resistance. What's more, the touch panel LCD is a dustproof and waterproof display that meets the IP65, enabling it to be used outdoors as well.

The "UC-Phone Evaluation Kit" can be used for evaluating experiments of traceability in goods management, inventory management and commodity distribution, etc. for which ucode tags, such as RFIDs and barcodes, are used. The PHS terminal is equipped with a RFID tag reader and a one-dimensional barcode reader for the first time. In addition, it has a touch panel LCD in QVGA size to display contents. As the first step, it can be used for feasibility study experiments and practical evaluations regarding various applications of Ubiquitous technologies. As the second step, it can be developed into an actual traceability system.
