TRONSHOW2006 Ends on a High Note

From Wed, December 14 to Fri, December 16, 2005, "The 22nd TRON Project Symposium (TRONSHOW2006)" was held at the Exhibition Hall on the second basement floor of the Tokyo International Forum by the T-Engine Forum and the TRON Association.
In the symposium, various optimum results for creating a ubiquitous computing environment were introduced, and there were many visitors from both home and abroad.
At the Ubiquitous Showcase presented by the organizer, hands-on demonstrations for understanding how systems in various fields are linked across their barriers by utilizing basic ucode technology were held, enabling the visitors to practically experience (recognize)"Ubiquitous Computing is here to Stay", the theme of this symposium.
In addition to the introduction of the latest technology and products related to T-Engine, T-Kernel and the Ubiquitous ID Center by domestic and foreign companies and organizations, a pavilion was set up by the government to present exhibitions by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
At the opening session on Wed,14th December, the keynote speech on "Ubiquitous Computing is here to Stay" by Chairman Sakamura and the panel discussion by key persons in the government and industry were well received.

TEPS2006 Held

On Sat, December 10, 2005, "The TRON Enableware Symposium (TEPS2006)" was held at the Tokyo International Forum Hall B5.
In this symposium, the infrastructure of the ubiquitous society to be realized based on universal design was discussed from various viewpoints such as technological, usage and institutional ones.

T-Engine Forum Exhibited at ET2005

The T-Engine Forum exhibited at the Embedded Technology 2005 (ET2005) that was held at the PACIFICO YOKOHAMA in Kanagawa prefecture from Wednesday, November 16 through Friday, November 18, 2005.
At this exhibition, the Forum put on a static display of T-Engine development boards, demonstrated various types of “T-Appliance” products and displayed panels to introduce feasibility study experiments.
In addition, from 13:00 to 14:00 on Wednesday, November 16, Chairman Sakamura gave a special lecture under the theme, “Latest Trends of T-Engine, an Optimized Platform for Embedded System Development” and excited the capacity audience.

Exhibition at the Regional ICT Future Festival in Kagawa

The YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory exhibited its research results at the "Regional ICT Future Festival in Kagawa" held mainly at Sunport Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture, from Fri, 21 October to Sun, 23 October, 2005.
The YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory booth simulated a near-future store applying ubiquitous computing technology and conducted demonstrations using ucode in the Ubiquitous Theme Pavilion which is sponsored by the Shikoku Bureau of Telecommunications under Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications.
On Sat, October 22, Chairman Sakamura gave a speech on "The Future of the Ubiquitous Network", bringing a lot of excitement to the capacity audience.

Exhibits at the CEATEC JAPAN 2005
YRP Ubiquitous Network laboratory

The YRP Ubiquitous Network Laboratory exhibited at the CEATEC JAPAN 2005 that was held from Tuesday, October 4th through Saturday, October 8th, 2005 at the Makuhari Messe.
At this exhibition, the laboratory's research activities regarding next generation basic technology for realizing a ubiquitous society, and The T-Engine Forum and the Ubiquitous ID Center were introduced to many visitors, in a booth that was set up within the exhibition area of the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT).

T-Engine Seminars Underway

T-Engine Forum will again hold T-Engine Seminars for members this fiscal year.
In these seminars , with the purpose of providing wide and not deep understanding of T-Engine in a wide range of topics, materials targeted for inexperienced engineers and programmers have been prepared, and the basics of T-Engine can be mastered by taking these seminars . We are looking forward to participation of members.

Participation in Ubiquitous Food Safety and Security Systems - Hokuriku District Seminar

On Friday, July 29th, 2005, T-Engine Forum held an exhibition booth at the Ubiquitous Food Safety and Security Systems - Hokuriku District Seminar, which was held in the Kanazawa Kanko Kaikan Hall.
At this event, last year's achievements for the Food Traceability Development and Verification Activities of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, 2004, namely the results of "Development and Verification for Integrated Food Traceability Systems that utilize Ubiquitous ID Technology", were exhibited and demonstrated to the visitors.
In the seminar hall, Mr. Noboru Koshizuka (Vice President of YRP Ubiquitous Networking Laboratory, Associate Professor of Tokyo University) gave the keynote speech under the theme of "Ubiquitous Computing Technology achieving Safety and Security of Food", drawing a great deal of attention from all those who came to the seminar.

The Start of Feasibility Study Experiments for "Ubiquitous Food Information Infrastructure Systems"

The T-Engine Forum has announced that it will start feasibility study experiments for "Ubiquitous Food Information Infrastructure Systems" that use the Ubiquitous ID Technology in cooperation with CO-OP Sapporo, MITSUKOSHI, LTD, Summit, Inc., and the University of Tokyo.
These feasibility study experiments will be conducted as a part of the "2005 Ubiquitous Food Safety and Security System Development Activities" of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

T-Engine Forum exhibited at the ESEC

From Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 till Friday, July 1st, T-Engine Forum held a booth at the 8th Embedded Systems Expo and Conference in Tokyo (ESEC) held at the Tokyo Big Sight from Wednesday, June 29th, 2005 till Friday, July 1st. At this event, "Importance of Simultaneous Development of Hardware and Software" and "Electronical Distribution of Middleware", were the main themes of the display. An FPGA board that improves the efficiency of development of hardware on T-Engine and "T-Dist", a mechanism to electronically distribute middleware on T-Engine were introduced.
On Thursday, June 30th, Chairman Sakamura gave a lecture titled, "Future of Embedded Systems", and created a lot of excitement in the full capacity audience.

Participation at the 2nd Sino-Japanese Embedded Software Seminar (Dalian)

The 3rd China International Software & Information Service Fair and the 2nd Sino-Japanese Embedded Software Seminar (Dalian) were held in the China Dalian International Exhibition with the presence of a deputy mayor of Dalian municipal government and the president of the Dalian Software Park on Saturday, June 25th, 2005. During this event, T-Engine forum attended the opening ceremony of the T-Engine Laboratory in the Dalian Software Park and the first µT-Engine Board Exhibition in Dalian. A keynote address titled, "T-Engine - The Most Powerful Embedded Development Platform Supporting Ubiquitous Computing Society" and a technology lecture titled, "Latest Technological Trends of T-Engine" were given.

Chairman Sakamura received the Prime Minister Award for the Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Contributor Awards

Chairman Sakamura's "Study on Ubiquitous Computing Technology" received the Prime Minister Award at the 4th Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Promotion Meetings which held from Saturday, June 25th through Sunday, June 26th At the Kyoto International Conference Hall in Kyoto, the"2005 Industry-Academia-Government Collaboration Contributor Awards" held. The award acknowledges Chairman Sakamura's following achievements.
1. The successful results of the fundamental study of computer science at the university, namely Research of Infrastructure Development for a Ubiquitous Network Society", have spread across the world through the T-Engine Forum.
2. The standard real time OS "T-Kernel", developed as part of the research has been embedded into various commercial products, mainly from the Forum member companies.
3. Completion of many feasibility study experiments using electronic tags and portable devices with the goal of building a Ubiquitous Network society with ubiquitous systems, such as for logistics, inventory management, food traceability, medical drug and prescription management, tour guide, etc..
All these achievements have been made possible by the cooperation and efforts from all T-Engine Forum members. We appreciate your continuous and unwavering support and for forum activities.
