Ubiquitous Computing Technology Corporation has started selling “UCT μT-Kernel tuned Series,” to the world on “Embedded Software Store,” an online store operated by Avnet (HQ: Arizona, U.S.) and ARM via online download. This is the first time a Japanese real-time OS (RTOS) for embedded systems is sold through the store.
“UCT μT-Kernel tuned Series” is derived from the latest version, μT-Kernel of TRON OS family which has the topmost market share for embedded systems in Japan, and has been tuned to ARM Cortex-M3/M4.

The 2nd IEEE Global Conference on Consumer Electronics (GCCE 2013) has been held at Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex from October 1 to 4, 2013. Open Data can be viewed as public infrastructure for data access. With Open Data, API to access highly public data, etc. is published, and users can use the data via the network.
This study group plans to conduct activities to promote an open data system for the information on the operation status of railroads, buses, etc., and transport terminal facilities such as stations, bus stops and airports.
The group aims to publish and share data and create environment where many developers with different backgrounds can easily provide information services. Such services currently envisioned include real-time operation status service according to the current situation, information provision for foreigners in many languages and information provision tailored for physically-challenged people and aged people.

uID Center will introduce u2, a new architecture to realize “ucR (ucode Relation)” which describes the relationship (concept) between “objects.” With u2, the center can take advantage of the latest technical advances such as large-scale distributed computing infrastructure and protocol to work with cloud, and cope with the recent changes such as increasing demand for the processing of big data and real-time stream data.
u2 is based on the flexible relationship data description by the current ucR-ucode RDF and its processing. u2 enables universal cross query for various data collections accumulated in various formats such as RDF and KVS on the Internet. Such cross query will realize integrated usage of data across organizations and easy access from mobile application. “Dynamic ucR” which is ucode stream data with time stamp and was presented at TRONSHOW2013 held at the end of last year will be implemented as part of cross query.
The Japanese government announced that it will work on “open data” as the mainstay of its policy. With “open data,” the government will facilitate the publication of data owned by the national government, local governments, public institutions, etc., and will promote their mash-up with various services. The focus of technical development has shifted to how to use too much open data in Europe and the U.S. already. u2 is expected to cope with such trends.
u2WG will look at the issues during the design and implementation stages of protocol specification and the implementation and public rollout of application services.
